Lady's Island woman sought in armed robbery

Deputies are searching for a Lady's Island woman in connection with an armed robbery and home invasion Thursday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

Deputies were called shortly after 10:30 p.m. to a home on Fairfield Road, where a 36-year-old man said a female acquaintance had called him asking for money. After inviting her over, the victim waited outside in his SUV, the release said, but when she arrived, two men came out from the woods behind her.

Both suspects wore black T-shirts over their faces and carried handguns, the release said. They ambushed the victim, demanding money and firing several rounds. When the man said he did not have any money, they forced their way into his home and forced the victim to ransack his rooms to prove he was not hiding anything, the release said.

The suspects stole his wallet and cellphone, got into his green Chevrolet Tahoe and drove away. The victim was uninjured, and his SUV was recovered several houses away, undamaged.

The woman also ran away during the incident, leading deputies to believe she was involved in the robbery. The woman, known only as "Joey," was described as white, between 30 and 40 years old, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds from Lady's Island. No descriptions of the other suspects were available.
