A Ridgeland man was charged with attempted murder after he shot his 33-year-old brother-in-law and left him on the side of a Lady's Island road Monday night after an argument, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Malcolm Maurice Brabham, 29, allegedly shot his brother-in-law in the torso on the side of Little Capers Road at 9:30 p.m., a news release said.
Brabham and his brother-in-law had spent the night driving around the area and drinking before picking up a female friend.
The brother-in-law accused Brabham of cheating on his sister with the woman they picked up, and the men began to argue, the release said. That argument led to the woman leaving the car and walking away.

The men continued to argue as they reached the Holly Hall and Little Capers roads area, where Brabham stopped the car, the release said. The victim got out of the car, and Brabham shot him with a handgun, the release said.
Brabham then drove away, leaving the wounded man on the roadside. The victim was able to walk to a nearby home on River Drive, where he sought help from residents.
He was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and transferred to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he is in stable condition, the release said.
Investigators tracked Brabham to a work site in Bluffton. He was arrested about 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to the release.
He was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and attempted murder. He was also charged with probation violation and on unrelated incidents of first-degree criminal domestic violence and five Magistrate Court bench warrants.
He is being held for prosecution in the Beaufort County Detention Center, according to the jail log.
