The Mount Pleasant man accused of attempted murder after a shooting incident in downtown Beaufort was released Tuesday from the Beaufort County Detention Center after posting a $250,000 personal recognizance bond.
Timothy R. Sponar, 59, is accused of shooting at a car at about midnight June 21 at the intersection of West and Port Republic streets. Sponar had been arguing with an unidentified woman near the intersection, Beaufort police say, when two men attempted to intervene.
Sponar retrieved a gun from his car and fired an undisclosed number of shots as one of the men drove away, police said.
No injuries were reported.
