A domestic dispute turned violent Monday night when an ex-boyfriend showed up at a Burton woman's home, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
The woman ran, and she said she heard gunshots.
Deputies arrived at Taylors Mobile Home Park at 482 Parris Island Gateway at about 11 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.
They found the residence open and three children sleeping inside. No gunshot victim was there, according to the report.

Deputies contacted the children's mother. She said her ex-boyfriend had been calling her throughout the day, asking what she was doing and whom she was with. He said he was going to stop by the residence, according to a news release.
The woman, her mother, a cousin, a male friend and the children where at the home when the ex-boyfriend arrived. The victim said he stole a key and entered without permission, according to the Sheriff's Office.
When she saw him, she and the adults fled, leaving the children behind.
The woman said she heard three gunshots as she ran down the street. She called 911 from her mother's home.
The friend's vehicle was found in Bluffton with several bullet holes, but no one was injured, according to the release.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests had been made as of this afternoon.
