Cocaine, pot found during Beaufort traffic stop

A Beaufort man was charged with possession of drugs and drinking while driving Monday after he was stopped for failing to use turn signals, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy saw the driver make two left turns without using a signal, first onto Parris Island Gateway and then into Taylors Mobile Home Park, according to the incident report.

The deputy saw an open bottle of Svedka vodka on the front passenger seat and an open Icehouse beer bottle lying next to the seat. The vehicle smelled of marijuana, and the driver said he had be smoking in the vehicle and had marijuana in the car, according to the report.

The marijuana and a bag of cocaine, which the driver said he bought for $10, were found, the report said.
