A teller supervisor at PNC Bank on Hilton Head Island is accused of spying on women in the bathroom at the branch on Office Way, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Richard Aaron Hayes, 27, of Ridgeland turned himself in to authorities Thursday after a coworker reported him for suspicious activity, the Sheriff's Office said.
The coworker found a ladder in the men's bathroom during a security check, according to a news release, then noticed Hayes often went to the men's room when a female coworker or customer entered the women's room. The restrooms are adjoined, the release said
Investigators discovered a hole in the ceiling tile above a toilet in the women's bathroom. They believe Hayes climbed the ladder and peeped through the hole. They also believe the spying could have occurred for several months, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh.

Hayes was charged with voyeurism and has been released on his own recognizance, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center log.
It's not the first time the Sheriff's Office has discovered spying in a women's bathroom.
In April 2012, a Rose Hill Plantation security guard was charged with voyeurism after allegedly hiding a cellphone camera in a toilet-paper roll to film female employees in the guardhouse bathroom.
And an employee of the Kangaroo Express on Mathews Drive on Hilton Head was charged with hiding a video camera inside a toilet-paper dispenser in the women's bathroom at the store in July 2011.
The investigation into the bank case continues. Anyone with information can contact Investigator Cpl. J. Moran at 843-255-3422 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (274-6372).
