Habitat for Humanity to hold family orientations

The LowCountry Habitat for Humanity will hold Family Orientation Meetings at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Sea Island Presbyterian Church, 81 Lady's Island Drive, and at 10 a.m. Oct. 20 at Grays Hill Baptist Church, 2749 Trask Parkway, Beaufort.

The meetings are for anyone interested in becoming a Habitat homeowner and participating in the affordable-housing program. This is the first step in the application process, and attendance at one of the meetings is a requirement for candidacy.

Candidates must live in substandard housing, reside or work in northern Beaufort County, have an income less than 60 percent of the median income established by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and be willing to put in "sweat-equity" hours.
