Two Bluffton men face felony charges in connection with a Sept. 22 theft of a golf cart from the Pine Crest Golf Club.
Witnesses say Daniel Antonio Mervin, 29, was the man who drove the golf cart off the property, according to Bluffton Police Department spokesman Lt. Joe Babkiewicz. Mervin drove the cart to the home of Jeffrey Scott Black II, 20, where they hid it under a tarp, Babkiewicz said.
Mervin was already being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center after being charged with forgery Oct. 3. He has since been charged with grand larceny of an item worth more than $2,000 but less than $10,000. As of Wednesday evening, he remained in jail, awaiting a bond hearing.
Black faces one felony charge of receiving stolen goods. He was released Tuesday after posting a $5,000 bond, according to the jail log.
