The Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island will present "Whales of South Carolina" at 3 p.m. Nov. 14.
Al Segars, a veterinarian with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, will discuss the natural history of the whales that visit state waters and their current status, along with threats and challenges, according to the museum.
Several species pass through state waters in search of food or to give birth. They include the North Atlantic right whale, one of the most endangered whale species in the world, with numbers estimated in the few hundreds, according to a news release.
Cost is $7 per person, and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767, extension 223. The museum is at 70 Honey Horn Drive.
