A 23-year-old woman told authorities she was robbed at the entrance of a Burton mobile home park early Monday by a man wearing a blue bandana across his face.
The man stopped the vehicle she was in at about midnight near the entrance to the Laurel Village Mobile Home Park off Shanklin Road, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release. The suspect opened the door, showed a handgun and demanded money, the release said.
When the woman replied she had no money, he fired a shot into the ground, authorities said.
The woman handed over about $560. He struck her in the back of the head and ran.

She was treated at Beaufort Memorial Hospital for a minor head injury and released.
The suspect was described as a 26- to 27-year-old black man with short hair, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
