Beaufort's Lehman ties for 10th at Bobby Chapman Invitational

Beaufort's JD Lehman shot his second consecutive even-par 71 on Sunday to finish tied for 10th at the Bobby Chapman Invitational at the Country Club of Spartanburg.

Clemson commitment Carson Young of Pendleton shot a final-round 7-under 64 to win the tournament by three strokes over Mt. Pleasant's Andrew Novak.

Young shot a 71-64--135.

Lehman, a Hilton Head Christian Academy golfer, began the day tied for 11th with eight other golfers.

Bluffton resident and Hank Haney International Golf Academy golfer Ben Dietrich shot a 7-over 78 on Sunday to fall out of contention and finish tied for 33rd. The South Carolina commitment had been tied for fourth after shooting a 1-under 70 on Saturday.

Andy Shim, the reigning U.S. Junior Amateur Champion, shot 1-over 143 and finished tied for 15th.

Previous winners of the Bobby Champan include Lucas Glover (1995), Kyle Thompson (1996), Peter Uilhein (2005-06) and Corbin Mills (2008).

Others who have played the tournament include Beaufort's Mark Anderson, Jonathan Byrd, Bill Haas, Savannah's Brian Harman, Dustin Johnson, Will McGirt, 2012 Heritage champion Carl Pettersson, former Hilton Head resident D.J. Trahan and 2012 Masters champion Bubba Watson.
