Hilton Head hosting USTA Senior State Championships this weekend

The USTA Senior League State Championships will be held Saturday through Monday on Hilton Head Island with the finals scheduled for noon Monday at the Sea Pines Racquet Club.

Teams are competing to advance to the USTA Southern Section League Championships held July 28 through Aug. 5 in Mobile, Ala.

USTA Senior Leagues invite players ages 50 and older to form teams that compete against other teams of the same skill level. Teams compete in local leagues, with local winners advancing to the state championships.

The Senior League Championships draw teams from around the state, including 20 from the area.

In addition to the Sea Pines Racquet Club, other venues hosting matches this weekend are: Palmetto Dunes, Country Club of Hilton Head, Long Cove, South Beach Racquet Club, Sea Pines Country Club and Indigo Run.
