American Legion baseball tryouts next week in Beaufort, Hilton Head Island


The Lowcountry Heat American Legion Post 185 junior and senior baseball teams will be holding tryouts and practices next week.

The senior team, for players 19 and under, will be having tryouts from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Hilton Head Island High School baseball field. Practices will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The senior team, coached by Chris Seelbach, will have its season opener on May 21. The regular-season finale is scheduled for July 2, with the playoffs set to begin July 9.

Post 185's junior team, for players 17 and under, will hold its tryouts from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Practices will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Hilton Head High. The Junior Heat's coaches are Blair Carson and Matt Seelman.

Players who are age eligible for both teams and would like to come to both tryouts can do so. After Tuesday's tryouts, the coaches will let the players know which team they made.


The Beaufort Ospreys American Legion senior baseball team, for players ages 16-18, will be holding tryouts next week at Beaufort High School. Tryouts will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The Ospreys' junior team will begin holding tryouts at 6:30 p.m. on May 14 at Beaufort High School. The junior team is for players ages 15-17.
