Beaufort woman charged with stealing about $70K from Bluffton business

A Beaufort woman is charged with stealing about $70,000 from her Bluffton employer to pay for her bills and mortgage, according to police.

On March 25, the owner of Superior Heating and Air reported about $70,000 missing from his account, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release. The owner also reported that his office manager, Suzanne McMurray, had used the business credit card to purchase several personal items without his permission. The charges included cellphone bills, personal credit card bills, a home mortgage and cash advances, the release said. The charges on the account began in 2007 and continued into this year.

McMurray was charged with felony breach of trust of more than $10,000, the release said. She was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where she was released Tuesday on her own recognizance.
