A Hilton Head Island man arrested last year on allegations he was shipping marijuana through the U.S. Postal Service to the island from California was arrested again Saturday after investigators concluded he was "up to the same activity as before," Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.
John David Allen, 52, was arrested by the Beaufort/Jasper Multi Agency Drug Task Force after a search of his Queens Grant home in Palmetto Dunes allegedly turned up 82 grams of marijuana and $1,366 in cash.
When Allen was charged in June 2011, authorities seized 51 pounds of marijuana, along with hashish, prescription drugs and firearms. Before Saturday's arrest, investigators obtained information Allen was trying to organize the delivery of additional shipments of marijuana and cocaine, McIntosh said.
Allen was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana and conspiracy to traffic cocaine and marijuana. He is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center, with bond set at $130,000.
