A 3-year-old boy from Myerstown, Pa., missing for about an hour, was found three miles from where his mother last saw him Sunday on Hunting Island State Park's South Beach, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
He was found walking on the beach sobbing, with his feet full of "stickers," according to the report. The boy had gone to the beach with his mother, aunt, grandmother and cousins.
The boy's mother thought the grandmother was watching him, according to the report. The grandmother said the boy had been playing with his cousins.
The Sheriff's Office was contacted about the missing child at about 1:45 p.m., according to the report. Park rangers stopped and searched all vehicles leaving the park and sent nine officials searching in both directions on the beach.
The boy was found near the campground at about 2:40 p.m. He appeared to be unharmed. The incident report did not indicate there were any suspects.
