A Florida man has been sentenced to 19 years and two months in prison for his role in two bank robberies in Georgia and one in Bluffton.
Imad Ata Sihwail, 35, of Wauchula, Fla., pleaded guilty in federal district court in Macon, Ga., to robbing the Bank of America in Bluffton; the First Community Bank of Tifton, Ga.; and a Wachovia Bank in Pooler, Ga., according to The Associated Press
Sihwail held up the Bluffton bank, which is off U.S. 278 near the Publix shopping center, on Nov. 24, 2009. The Pooler bank had been held up earlier that day.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations handled the case, according to Lt. Joe Babkiewicz of the Bluffton Police Department.
The court ordered Sihwail to pay $3,092 to the Wachovia Bank in Pooler and $3,179 to the Bank of America in Bluffton.
The First Community Bank of Tifton recovered all the money stolen from it at the time of Sihwail's arrest.
