A driver who crashed into a tree on S.C. 170 near the Broad River Bridge on Thursday morning was pried from his vehicle by firefighters and taken to a local hospital.
The driver veered off the road and into a tree at about 7:30 a.m., according to Capt. Randy Hunter of the Bluffton Township Fire District.
It took firefighters about 15 to 20 minutes to cut him out of his truck. Hunter did not know the extent of his injuries.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
