The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating the armed robbery of a St. Helena Island convenience store.
Deputies were called at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to the Express Lane on Sea Island Parkway, where an employee said a man brandished a handgun and demanded money, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.
The robber was handed an undisclosed amount of cash before running through the woods toward Coffin Point Road, the release said.
No injuries were reported.
The robber was described as a black man in his early 20s, about 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds, according to authorities.
