A man walking or standing in a northbound lane of Interstate 95 in Jasper County died late Sunday after he was struck by a passing motorist, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim who was struck near the Coosawhatchie exit near mile-marker 29 just after 11 p.m., Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls said.
An autopsy will be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, he said.
Sauls said the man, who was about 30 years old and Hispanic, was not carrying a driver's license, identity card or wallet. He did not have any identifying scars, tattoos or marks, Sauls said.

The driver, Leiah Castile, 34, of Hilton Head Island was traveling north in a 2008 Infinity, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. She was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation, patrol spokesman Cpl. Bob Beres said Monday.
