A donation of $5,000 from the Rotary Club of the Lowcountry will help women learn skills needed to build houses for low-income families in the area.
The donation will go to the Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity for its second Women Build program and other housing projects. Half of the money was from the local club and the other half from a Rotary Foundation district grant.
The grant also was used to purchase new construction equipment, according to Lowcountry Habitat executive director Brenda Dooley.
