A 31-year-old Bluffton man was robbed and beaten by a man with a handgun at Bluffton House Apartments early Wednesday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators do not believe the crime, which occurred at about 2:30 a.m., is related to an armed robbery at Bluffton's Estates at Westbury Park Apartments late Wednesday night, sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.
The man told deputies he had visited a friend at an apartment and had showed the friend about $3,000 he was carrying, McIntosh said.
At about 2:30 a.m., he walked home. As he neared his apartment, a man with a pistol approached and demanded his cash. The man struck him in the head with the pistol, knocking him out, McIntosh said.
