Construction crews at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort are borrowing dirt and clearing some trees from the opposite side of Trask Parkway to build a new hangar for the Joint Strike Fighter, according to news release.
The dirt will be used on the construction site to prevent settling after construction is complete, the release said.
Base officials said they have no plans to build on the site from which the dirt was removed.
