A Beaufort Middle School student will be disciplined by the school but not face criminal charges for bringing a toy pistol on his bus Tuesday, police say.
Beaufort Police Chief Matt Clancy said someone reported that a student had a gun on the bus, and officers were dispatched to the school to meet the bus when it arrived at about 7:20 a.m.
Clancy said the officers removed the 10-year-old student and found that he had a toy pistol in his backpack.
The student claimed he had intended to play with the fake weapon at school, Clancy said.
