The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration will inject harmless red dye into the Beaufort River today, according to a DHEC news release.
The dye, which acts as a tracer, will be injected near the Port Royal Marina and will be used to measure where the Port Royal wastewater treatment plant's discharge travels during different tide levels.
The dye should have diluted by the end of Tuesday.
