Suspicious man a concern for Hilton Head business owner

The owner of a south-end Hilton Head Island business called authorities after an employee saw a suspicious man in a vehicle in the parking lot of the business early Tuesday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report. The employee arrived at work at about 4 a.m. to find a man sitting in a Range Rover SUV with its parking lights on. When the employee approached the vehicle, he saw a small revolver on the passenger seat and what appeared to be a rolled-up 50 dollar bill with a white powdery substance on the truck's center console. The man also had a small laptop displaying pornography on the dashboard and a bottle of Sutter Home wine in the cup holder, the report said. The man also was naked from the waist down. The man told the employee he had permission from the store's owner to use the building's Wi-Fi, the report said. The employee slowly backed away from the vehicle and notified the business owner of the incident. The business is under extra surveillance for a week, according to the report.
