A 32-year-old taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday on the north end of Hilton Head Island, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the Dillon Road area just before 1:30 a.m. after the driver of a Diamond Transportation cab called 911. The driver told deputies a man flagged him down, showed a handgun and demanded cash. The driver handed over his wallet and his business bank-bag.
No passengers were in the taxi, and no injuries were reported, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The suspect was described as Hispanic, 25 to 30 years old, wearing a white polo shirt with small blue stripes, and blue jeans. He had a shaved head, a clean-shaven face and a pierced left ear.
