A 19-year-old Hilton Head man who claimed to be a member of the "Gangster Disciples" was arrested for pepper spraying another man who criticized his gang colors, according to a report from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies arrived at the site on Wilborn Road, they met the victim's girlfriend, who said her boyfriend was in the locker room shower because he was pepper sprayed by her ex-boyfriend.
The victim told deputies he was playing basketball with several people, including his attacker. He said the attacker began to flash his gang colors at an unknown black male who pulled up.
The victim asked the attacker, "Are you going to play ball or be a gangbanger?" the report states.

The victim said he was then shot with pepper spray for no reason.
The attacker contended that he used the spray in self-defense when the other man came at him with a clenched fist.
