Fire officials are investigating the cause of a blaze that destroyed a home on Blossom Place off Muddy Creek Road on Hilton Head Island early Sunday, according to a Town of Hilton Head Fire & Rescue Division spokeswoman.
The residence's occupants were not at home when the fire started shortly before 3:15 a.m., Fire Marshal Joheida Fister said. No injuries were reported, she said.
A neighbor called 911 to report the fire. Crews had the blaze under control in about 15 minutes, Fister said.
The home is a total loss, she said. American Red Cross Carolina Lowcountry Chapter provided the family with financial assistance to replace clothing, food and other necessities destroyed in the blaze, according to an agency news release
