A Bluffton man believed to be involved in a burglary earlier this summer was arrested Thursday after a car break-in, according to police.
Mario Alexander Torres-Ortega, 19, was charged with second-degree burglary, breaking into a motor vehicle and misrepresenting his identity to police.
At about 10:45 p.m., Bluffton officers patrolling the Pine Ridge subdivision noticed a suspicious vehicle parked near a wooded area. They found Torres-Ortega there with property stolen from a car he had broken into, police said.
Torres-Ortega misrepresented his identity to try to avoid arrest, according to the release. Police also suspect him of being involved in a burglary in the Pine Crest subdivision on June 18.
Torres-Ortega was in the Beaufort County Detention Center on Friday, awaiting a bond hearing.
