A wolf-dog mix taken to the Beaufort County animal shelter Wednesday after his owner was charged with cruelty to animals is still undergoing tests to determine any serious illnesses, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
The 5-year-old male wolf mix named Shadow is underweight and infected with worms, McIntosh said, and results for other tests are pending.
Residents of the Baywood neighborhood in Bluffton complained about the dog's treatment, alleging cramped, unsanitary living conditions.
