Hilton Head 12, Lancaster 7: Nikolaus Laing was 3 for 3 and Cole DeMarzo hit a home run to lead the Hilton Head all-stars to victory in the opening game of the machine-pitch state tournament Saturday in Dillon. DeMarzo, Cooper George, Jace Blackshear, Daniel Keber and Maxwell Boyer had two hits apiece.

Hilton Head 5, Pee Dee 4: Hilton Head trailed 4-2 in the sixth inning before scoring three times in their last at-bat to win their second game of the day.

Daniel Keber drove in the winning run for Hilton Head with his second hit of the night. Cooper George led the winners with a 3-for-3 performance, and Nikolaus Laing and Will McCracken also had two hits apiece.

Hilton Head continues tournament play with an 8 p.m. game today against Gregg Park of North Augusta.


Beaufort 13, Lancaster 3: Brady Cormier earned the victory and went 2 for 3 to lead Beaufort's all-stars to the win in their opening game of the state tournament in Aiken.

Manager John Mahan was able to use five of his team's six pitchers, making sure the team will have plenty of fresh arms for today's 5 p.m. game against Summerville and beyond.

Now that the Beaufort squad knows it will have an extended stay, Mahan wants to appeal to the community for any donations that could help defray expenses from their trip.


Hilton Head 10, Central Paigeland 0 (5 inn.): Lincoln Fuller pitched a complete-game shutout, and Carlos Pecero, Dylan Powell and John David Reichel had two hits each to lead Hilton Head to victory in the state tournament in Greer.

Hilton Head, which finished runner-up in its district tournament and earned an at-large spot in the state tournament, plays Dillon at 4 p.m. today.
