The S.C. Governor's Office, along with Jasper County, the Lowcountry Economic Alliance and Palmetto Electric Cooperative, will host a welcoming ceremony July 14 to celebrate the arrival of Be Green Packaging. The producer of environmentally friendly packaging for companies such as Whole Foods and Gillette announced in April it would open a plant in Ridgeland. The company plans to invest at least $7.3 million in Jasper County and generate at least 175 new jobs over the next five years, according to a Jasper County government news release. The welcoming ceremony, which Gov. Nikki Haley is scheduled to attend, will be at 1:30 p.m. at the new Be Green Packaging facility at 4427 Grays Highway. The public is invited.
