Will Dorton, a 15th-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Reds, held the Heat to three hits, and Forrest Koumas, a member of South Carolina's NCAA championship team, went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Camden to a 16-0 win in five innings in game 1 of the best-of-five series in the first round of the American Legion playoffs.
"It's a little different world," Heat coach Chris Wells said. "They're just head and shoulders better than us."
Dillon Morrow went 3 for 3 with four RBIs, and Blake Outlaw was 3 for 3 with four runs and three RBIs for Camden (14-7).
Ryan Ward (1-5) took the loss for the Heat, allowing 10 runs over three innings.
The teams will play a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. today at Hilton Head High. The Heat (11-10) will need at least one win to keep their season alive.
