Students in Beaufort County public schools won't have class April 12-13 during the RBC Heritage Classic after a vote Tuesday by the Board of Education.
The tournament will be April 9-15 in Sea Pines at the Harbour Town Golf Links.
Because the PGA Tour tournament still sought a title sponsor and was in jeopardy of not being staged in 2012, the board did not assign school days off to accommodate the tournament when it first took up the 2011-12 calendar in March.
Last month, the Heritage ended a long search for a new title sponsor, and the PGA Tour announced the tournament would return to its traditional schedule, the week after the Masters, in 2012.

The school district and several private schools on Hilton Head typically give students time off during the week of the event because many students and teachers volunteer for the tournament.
