Four F-16s from Shaw Air Force Base will fly over the South Carolina coast at 1 p.m. Monday to mark Independence Day, part of an event by the nonprofit Salute from the Shore.
The event, in which people gather along the beaches to wave at the jets, will be recorded from the ground and the air, and the video will be sent to troops around the world to show appreciation for their service, according to a news release. The organization's goal is to record 1 million people wearing red, white and blue and waving to the troops.
The flyover will start at the South Carolina/North Carolina border at 1 p.m. and travel south, covering every beach in South Carolina in just 20 minutes, according to the group's website.
