Pizza shop robbed at gunpoint

Papa John's Pizza on Palmetto Bay Road on Hilton Head Island was robbed at gunpoint just before midnight Sunday, and an employee was forced into a cooler, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

A 34-year-old male employee told deputies the business was robbed by two men armed with handguns at about 11:45 p.m. They entered the store, demanded money and forced him at gunpoint to empty the safe, according to the release. After stealing an undisclosed amount of cash, they forced the employee into a walk-in cooler and fled.

The employee was unharmed, according to the release.

The suspects were described as black men, ages 18 to 25, both dressed in all black clothing with black bandanas over their faces.
