South Carolina residents with a driver's license, beginner's permit or identification card can now enter emergency contact information online, and in the event of a collision or other medical emergency, law enforcement will have access to this information to provide to emergency medical personnel.
To enter emergency contact information, go to the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles' website at www.scdmvonline.com and select "Public Services" from the "Online Services" menu. Two emergency contacts can be added by entering their names, addresses and telephone numbers. Customers can change the information at any time.
The DMV recommends that people add the information for their underage children, talk to their spouses about adding emergency contact information and help elderly parents who do not have Internet service enter their information.
