Young sailors from throughout the Southeast will crowd the Beaufort River today to race in the South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association Youth Challenge.
For a second consecutive year, the regatta will be hosted by the Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club, which earned the privilege by winning the overall club title the past two years. The regatta will feature Opti, Sunfish, Laser and Club 420 classes.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall teams and first place in each fleet will win awards. The winning team earns the right to host in 2012.
The race starts a big weekend for BYSC. On Saturday and Sunday, the club will host its Lowcountry Regatta.
