Beaufort couple robbed at gunpoint near Downtown Marina

A Beaufort couple were robbed at gunpoint Sunday while walking in the Beaufort Downtown Marina parking lot, according to a police report.

The husband, 22, and wife, 21, told Beaufort police a man approached at about 2:35 a.m. as they walked toward their car and asked for directions to Hilton Head Island. Two men then approached from behind, the report said.

One demanded money, and when the woman offered him $5, he pulled a handgun and demanded she hand over her wallet, keys and cellphone. Then the suspects ran.

One suspect was described as black, mid- to late-20s, about 5-foot-10, wearing a dark striped shirt. Another was described as white, mid- to late-20s, about 5-foot-10, with dark curly hair, wearing a light-colored T-shirt. No description was available for the other white male involved.
