Boys arrested after chase in stolen golf cart

Three boys were arrested Friday afternoon after crashing one of two stolen golf cars while trying to flee from an employee at Old South Golf Links in Bluffton.

The boys, ages 14, 11 and 10, were issued trespass notices and petitioned to appear in family court for grand larceny and property damage before being released to their parents, according a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office incident report.

An employee caught the three teens driving a golf cart stolen from Old South Apartments into Old South Golf Links, where they allegedly stole another cart. Multiple members of the golf course chased after them. While trying to flee, one of the boys struck a tree at the entrance of Buckingham Plantation Drive and Old South Court, causing $500 worth of damage to the cart stolen from the golf course, according to the report.

The boys then fled on foot and were later caught by an Old South Golf Links employee.

The golf carts were valued at $4,000 to $5,000.
