A woman was flown to Savannah's Memorial University Medical Center with potentially serious injuries after a wreck Thursday in Burton.
Beaufort County EMS, Port Royal police and firefighters from the Burton Fire District were called to a two-car accident at the intersection of Robert Smalls Parkway and Savannah Highway at about 8 a.m. Crews found one of the vehicles badly damaged and its driver trapped inside, according to fire district spokesman Dan Byrne.
He said fire crews freed the driver within minutes, and she was taken by ambulance to Beaufort Memorial Hospital before being flown by helicopter to the Savannah hospital.
