A 37-year-old Tennessee woman died Monday after falling off a golf cart Saturday night in Sun City Hilton Head, according to the Beaufort County Coroner's Office.
Anita Bergeson of Knoxville was a passenger on a golf cart when she fell and struck her head at about 11 p.m. as the driver made a left turn onto Cypress Hollow from Col. Thomas Heyward Road, Deputy Coroner David Ott said.
She died of head trauma Monday morning at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Ott said.
Bert Defazio, Sun City chief of security, said Bergeson and her boyfriend were visiting his parents, who live in the community, and were driving his parents' golf cart.

"It looks like he made too fast of a turn around the bend, and she fell off," Defazio said. "Not being from the community, they may not have been familiar with how to use a cart. It's an unfortunate accident."
Defazio said Bergeson was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The driver was not injured.
In June 2008, a 63-year-old Callawassie Island woman fell out of a golf cart while she was making a turn in the gated community. She died the next day at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.
