Four people were arrested Tuesday by the Beaufort/Jasper Multi Agency Drug Task Force in two separate incidents, according to a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Officers spotted about a kilogram of cocaine on the passenger-side floorboard during a traffic stop at about 8 p.m. on Whyte Hardee Boulevard in Hardeeville, the release said. The driver, Dwayne Fulton, 40, of Ridgeland and passenger Frederick Frost, 34, of Tillman were charged with trafficking cocaine. The task force also seized about $1,260, the release said.
Both men were taken to the Jasper County Detention Center, and bond was set at $50,000 each. Frost posted bail Thursday; Fulton was still being held, according to detention center officials.
Two Ridgeland residents also were arrested Tuesday after investigators learned a package of illegal drugs was being shipped from McAllen, Texas, to a home in Ridgeland.
Investigators found 12 pounds of marijuana inside and arrested the home's residents. Broddrick Lee, 21, and Lakeisha Wright, 26, were released Wednesday from the Jasper County Detention Center on charges of trafficking marijuana after each posted bail. Their bonds were $7,500 each.
