The Beaufort County School District has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual financial report.
The award is the highest recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting and is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association, according to a news release. The district had to meet nationally recognized guidelines for budget presentation, district spokesman Jesse Washington said.
Washington said this is the 21st consecutive year the district has earned the certificate.
Phyllis White, the district's operational services chief, also won an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement from the nonprofit professional association.
