If you're looking for clams in South Carolina, you need to hurry -- the season closes Monday, according to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
The state's oyster season closed May 15. Shellfish harvesting is expected to reopen Oct. 1, the release said.
Because of higher bacterial levels that occur when water temperature is above 80 degrees, shellfish harvesting is prohibited during the summer months.
Clam season will close at one-half hour after official sunset.
