The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating a crash Friday that killed a 44-year-old Hardeeville man on Interstate 95 .
John Richard Crawford was southbound on the interstate when the 1997 Chrysler minivan he was driving ran off the right side of the highway, said Lance Cpl. Bob Beres, highway patrol spokesman.
The van struck a sign and several trees before flipping over and catching fire, Beres said.
Beres said it is unknown whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt.
An autopsy is expected to be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, said Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls.
