Fundraiser set for garden at special-needs building

ABLE, the Lowcountry Disabilities Foundation Inc., is raising money to build a courtyard garden for a new Beaufort County Disabilities and Special Needs building in Burton.

Funds to landscape the courtyard were not included in the department's budget, so the nonprofit group hopes to raise $25,000 by selling bricks in honor of a person or organization. The garden, which will include a fountain, bird feeders, benches and native plants, is intended to provide peaceful outdoor space, according to an ABLE news release.
