Two Florida women were charged with forgery Wednesday in Bluffton after attempting to cash a check reported stolen in North Carolina, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.
When police arrived about 10:45 a.m. at the Bank of America branch at 101 Windrush Lane, the women gave the officers fake identification cards, police said. Officers also found several other false ID cards and documents.
One woman, Regina Ann Melendez, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, the release said. It was unclear what substance police found.
The women, ages 31 and 40, face misdemeanor charges of forgery and giving false information to police, and the investigation continues, the release said.
