The University of South Carolina has announced that University of South Carolina Beaufort philosophy professor Gordon Haist, who has served the university for 36 years, has won the Carolina Trustee Professorship Award.
Haist is one of three professors in the eight-campus USC system to receive this year's award, which recognizes teaching excellence, outstanding research and university service, according to a news release. The award is given by the USC Board of Trustees.
Haist is chairman of the USCB Faculty Senate and serves as the historian on the courses and curricula committee. He led the development of USCB's liberal studies degree and is an active researcher, presenter and writer.
